FAQ FOR TATTOO

Common Questions about Tattoos

You can book an appointment with us in these ways:

Please tell us what you want for your design, send us some images of your ideas, and let us know the date you prefer. This will help us handle your request quickly and effectively.

Our store welcomes you to come and talk to our staff about your tattoo ideas. We have experienced assistants and tattoo artists who can listen to your preferences and give you advice. You can walk in without an appointment, but if you book ahead you will save time.

    • After consulting with our staff, you can make a tattoo appointment or see the design you requested (if any).
    • Sometimes, we need to measure or examine the skin area you want to tattoo.
    • All of this process is free but you need to pay a deposit to secure your tattoo appointment or to have us start designing for you.

To get a tattoo at 1984 Studio, you need to be 18 years old and show valid ID. We only tattoo minors with parental consent.

The price depends on the size, complexity, and location of your tattoo. Our minimum charge is 500.000 vnd and it goes up from there. 1984 Tattoo & Piercing is not the cheapest place to get a tattoo, but we are the best. Remember, you only have one chance to get a tattoo on that spot on your body. Do it right! Go to a professional!

You can contact us by Email/Facebook or Instagram message, and tell us your idea with a picture and the location and size of the tattoo on your body in centimeters. We will give you an estimated price.

If you have a complex idea and want to know the exact price, you should visit our store and talk to our tattoo artists in person. They will give you a free consultation. Our 1984 Studio team is always ready to help and answer any questions you have.

You need to pay a deposit to book a tattoo appointment. The deposit will be partly refunded if you cancel the appointment or subtracted from the final price when your tattoo is done.

Make sure you have a good meal before you come and stay hydrated. If you feel dizzy, have some soda. Sugar will help you in this case. Don’t walk around Hanoi/Hoi An in the summer heat without drinking water and then get a tattoo on an empty stomach. That’s not a good idea.

Also, avoid drinking alcohol the night before because it can make you bleed more for up to 24 hours. Blood can also affect the color and healing of your tattoo. Charge your phone or tablet and don’t bring 50 of your close friends (should only bring 1-2 closest friends). Keep calm and relaxed. It’s just a tattoo!

Getting a tattoo involves some pain. It means putting pigment under the first layer of your skin. The bigger the tattoo the more time it takes to make, so small tattoos are less painful than big ones! But it’s a good kind of pain. Your brain makes endorphins when you feel pain and your body likes endorphins, so yes, it hurts, but you’ll enjoy it.

We don’t recommend using any numbing creams because they affect your skin quality. Numbing creams usually wear off after about half an hour, which is not enough time to do much work anyway.

It takes two to four weeks to “heal,” but it takes months for the skin to fully regenerate.

These are the care instructions for your tattoo. Different shops may have different methods, but this is what we recommend. Our tattoo artists did a great job on your tattoo, and you can keep it looking great by following these simple steps.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Keep the plastic wrap on for about 30 minutes and then take it off. Wash your tattoo gently with warm water and liquid antibacterial soap. Do not use bar soap or wet wipes.

  2. Dry your tattoo with a clean paper towel by patting it lightly. Do not rub it.

  3. Wash your hands before touching the tattoo. Do not cover it with anything else again.

  4. After 3 days, put a very thin layer of Vitamin A&D ointment on your tattoo and wipe off any excess. Do this 1-2 times per day until your tattoo heals completely.

  5. Your tattoo needs oxygen to heal, so let it breathe. It is normal for your tattoo to peel and flake.

  6. Do not pick or scratch your tattoo while it is healing – this will ruin it.
  7. You should avoid swimming pools, beaches or hot tubs for at least 2 weeks.
  8. Avoid direct sunlight on your tattoo. After your tattoo heals, you can use sunscreen on it when you are in the sun for a long time. Do not put sunscreen on a tattoo that is not fully healed.

If you have any questions, please contact our studios. We hope you enjoy your tattoo!

Fading can happen for various reasons. The most common one is exposure to direct sunlight for long periods. Other factors are the shades, quality, and skill of the ink and the tattoo. These are some of the main causes of fading, but there are others. Light colors usually fade faster. Besides, there are also other causes such as poor overall skin care, tattoo placement…

Do not shave the tattoo site until it is completely healed. Shaving can damage your tattoo and cause scarring or infection. Wait until the scabs fall off and you no longer feel itchy or swollen on the tattoo (usually 2-3 weeks).

You can pay with cash or card, but there is a 3% bank fee for card payments.

We also take Paypal.
